staying fit and keeping healthyLYNDON - With a new year, comes New Year's resolutions. A lot of those resolutions involve getting fit, keeping active, and maintaining good health. What better way to do this than to start a workout plan?

Not only does exercise improve your body, it helps your mental function. Exercise increases energy levels and increases serotonin in the brain, which leads to improved mental clarity.

Nobody knows this more than Anthony Andrews. Andrews is a student at Lyndon State College, who works out regulary. He knows the importance of good health and maintaining a healthy life style.

"I wanted to better both my mind and body. When I work out and eat properly, I feel healthy, my body feels healthy, my mind feels healthy, and I'm more alert of everything going on around me. It's just a great feeling," Andrews says.

He thinks that it is important to live a healthy life style. Setting goals and accomplishing those goals is what he really likes to do. He knows the importance of eating healthy. "I count everything I eat and I make sure I have a proper nutrition for my body," Andrews says.

Exercise produces a relaxation reponse that serves as a positive distraction. Exercise researchers say that is you perform any sort of physcial activity for 10 to 20 minutes a day, it will increase you mood by up to 60%.

Andrews hopes to continue his process with working out and hopes to encourage others to get fit and live healthier lives for the new year.
