LYNDONVILLE- The North Pole Express is ready to provide another year of Chirstmas magic for the Northeast Kingdom. The Freighthouse in Lyndonville started this magical train ride nine years ago as a fall foliage train ride, but switched gears and turned into a Christmas experience that now hundreds attend.
After selling out last year, the manager of The Freighthouse, Bonnie Paris, knew that she had something special.
"People can expect to just come and experience what it's like just to feel the magic of Christmas, which Christmas is all about, being with your family, and just leaving with a message that it's not the things that matter in the holidays, it's the people and being together and just to get a good feeling about the holidays coming up."
Paris started selling tickets in July this year, for the two days of train rides which start this weekend. The ride in total is an hour and a half, and travels 45 minutes North. Riders can expect plenty of hot chocolate, cookies, singing of Christmas carols, elves and of course Santa Claus himself.
The event offically sold out last week, but people are still calling to try to get onto the train, which is why the business has had to start a wait list.
The train takes it's first trip at 11 AM on Saturday, and continues all day, and will do the same thing on Sunday. With the amount of success The Freighthouse has had with the event, Paris and her employees are already preparing for next year.
