bmu budgetWELLS RIVER - Blue Mountain Union School has once again proposed a new budget for the future. They are hoping that the fourth time is a charm.

With three previously failed budgets, the town of Wells River will now be voting on a $7.99 million dollar budge.

A budget can't be dwindled down without cutitng things within the school itself. Many of the parents and townspeople were perturbed at the thought of cutting extra-curricular activites like sporting events and music concerts.

Superintendent Richard Pike is upset by the lack of interest from the community as a whole. Pike said "It's very puzzling to me why we're able to only generate on what would've been the night of the vote: 40 people, 25 regulars [and] three newcomers."

Blue Mountain Union's third budget proposal faield by 29 votes in April, but the school board says the budget would be passed if voting numbers increase.

The town will be voting for a fourth time on May 22nd. Residents are encouraged to attend an informational meeting on May 21st.
