EV CAR CHARGINGLYNDONVILLE- A local volunteer gave a presentation for the town of St.Johnsbury, to ask for a grant to have an electric vehicle charging station installed in the town. He believes that adding this attraction will add more business.

"We have to look at energy from a lot of different points of view, who might be helped? And in this case the electric vehicle charging equipment would be helpful to people who visit the town." said James Wuertele an energy coordinator for the town of St.Johnsbury.

Wuertele and selectman Tom Moore spoke at the town meeting Monday night and expressed that the addition of a charging station would be an attraction to the town. They also believe that with the grant and donations from local venders that a majority of the project could be paid without a huge expense to the town.

"Three quarters of the cost of the program would be paid for by a grant as long as we met the grant conditions." Wuertele stated. The cost of the charger itself wouldn't be much more than 4,000 dollars along with a 8,000 installation cost. Twin State Ford in St.Johnsbury currently has a level one station but the new proposed station is a level two which would allow for quicker charging.

Wuertele is also added that even though its a small project it has the "potential for impacting town business well beyond it's expense."
