daisy dazeLYNDONVILLE- With businesses all around the Northeast Kingdom shutting down, how is the government saying that the Vermont economy is on a positive incline? Big companies have come in and taken profit from small businesses, but for one small flower shop they have figured out the key, no employees.

Lenore Dwyer is the owner of Daisy Daze shop on route 5 in Lyndonville. She has been open for about 7 years and believes her success is over using her friends to do favors, instead of hiring employees to help in her business she says,"each year sales keep increasing" adding, "this past Valentine's Day was my best ever, I sold out of everything and had to order more."

Dwyer understands the rewards she would gain with a little extra help around, but knows she unfortunately will never make a profit by hiring."You got your taxes and you got your insurance, it's just too much, it doesn't matter how big you get. It's just too expensive."

With Prom and Mother's day right around the corner, Dwyer is expecting business to turn out like Valentine's Day with lots of customers. She has been able to even treat herself because of her recent jump in sales. "I actually bought a brand new vehicle because we needed to have something to declare," She says, "so yeah I would say we are doing very well."

Daisy Daze is one of the few flower shops in Lyndonville, with other shops in the area selling flowers being grocery stores where Dwyer believes her flowers and arrangements are more unique because they are made right in Lyndonville.
