stjstillsearchingST. JOHNSBURY - St. Johnsbury is still without a town manager following last night's special meeting.

The meeting was held to discuss the continuing search for a new town manager.

The night before town meeting day St. Johnsbury Select board chosen to appoint Mark Shea as town manager. After the legitimacy of the vote in which Shea was appointed was questioned the Select board rescinded their vote in order to start the process again and include the newly elected Select board members.

The board met at 6 p.m. to discuss the single agenda item. Before going into executive session, they took time to answer questions from residents regarding former Town Manager John Hall. Hall is currently one of 39 candidates who have applied for the position.

At the end of the night, the board decided to seek assistance from the Vermont League of Cities and Towns, and Municipal Resources Incorporated for further advice on their search.

"The board wants more information of different avenues to take, there's several different avenues that could be taken now," explained Board Member Jim Rust, "(and) especially the newer members want all those avenues and that information provided to them."

According to Rust, the Chair will provide that information to select board members. The board had no further details regarding their direction in the town manager search. They will continue developing on the issue during next week's regular board meeting.
