LYNDONVILLE - Pancakes for the animals. The Lyndon Animal Shelter held a pancake breakfast to help raise money for the shelter and the Elizabeth H. Brown Humane Society. On Saturday morning many people came down to Agway in Lyndonville to get some breakfast and support a good cause.
The breakfast was by donation, some gave a few dollars, while others gave, a generous amount. All the profits went directly to the animals that each organiozation serves. At the animal shelter, the money will help pay for food, spaying and neutering of animals, and vaccinations. They want to get as many animals ready for adoption as possible.
This was the second pancake breakfast thatn had been held to help raise money. Each organization spends a lot of time throught the year doing different types of fundraisers to help support their animals. They have done everything from raffling off a cord of wood to yard sales. Cindy Cady from the Animal Shelter at Agway says that they need "anything that will help raise money to pay the bills." Cady said that a lot of the local schools will do fundraising and dog food drives to help her feed the animals that are at the shelter.
Animals at the shelter have many different backgrounds. Some have been surrendered, some are strays, and some are just animals that people can no longer care for. Currently in the shelter, Cady has two dogs and fifteen cats. She says that she is at about her limit for the number of cats that she can care for.
All animals that are at the shelter are just waiting to be adopted. If you are interesting in adopting a cat or dog you can call (802) 626-PAWS. After you make the call you will have to fill out an application for adoption.
If you are interested in getting rabbits through the humane society you can call (802) 695-2925.
