Music In The Woods

hhhhhhhPEACHAM- Music is something everyone has a taste for but Alan Greenleaf has a special taste for a special type of music. Even though he lives in solitude he does not keep quiet. Greenleaf uses solar power for most of his electricity and find comfort at the neck of his guitar.

"I'm sort of a storyteller/musician. That's what Hank Williams said. Songs are nothing but a short story set to a tune". Allen Greenleaf's story is that he lives off the grid in the woods of Peacham. Prior occupations had him running a full time farm. He had beef cattle along with goats and sugaring in the spring. Over the years things have changed. Farming is a part time job, he still grows most of is own food and raises chickens, but he has gotten more involved with his music.

When asked if he likes living in the woods alone his simple answer was "I like being alone for long periods of time. I get frazzled if I'm around too much stimulation". The songs and stories he tells are inspired from Mother Nature and even sometimes his neighbors. The silent helps him rather than bother him. "I don't know how someone could, I guess some people do it, but I couldn't be a writer with a lot of distractions around".

Electricity isn't in abundance on the farm; all of it comes from solar panels. Some people may find this as a disadvantage when it comes to making music but Mr. Greenfield likes the fact that he does not have loads of electrical gadgets around, he prefers to live with more solitude stating "I can just concentrate on Mother Nature and Silence" about his absence of technology.
