H.O.P.E.'s 2nd Annual Sweetheart Ball

SweetheartLYNDONVILLE - Everyone may be celebrating Valentine's Day on the 14th, but one local organization is celebrating the day before.The organization, Helping Other People Everyday, is hosting their second annual Sweetheart Ball Saturday, February 13th to celebrate the holiday and a good cause.

 The event will be held at Lyndon State College this year, due to last years cold weather and they're already expecting a large crowd. Lyndon State College is known for being a big supporter of H.O.P.E. and all of the proceeds will be benefitting the non-profit organization. Tickets can be purchased at H.O.P.E. in downtown Lyndonville and are $25 per person or $175 for a group of 8. Contact Bob McCabe for reservations, or for ticket delivery.

"We'd like to see more groups of people come. I think it'll be more beneficial. Not only the number of tickets but I think the silent raffle or silent auction. The more people who come, the more money we can generate with the aspect of our Sweetheart Ball."

Last year the event was held at Burke Mountain and brought in around 50 people. This year McCabe is hoping to sell 200 hundred tickets, and with over half of that goal already reached, he's staying optimistic.

"People are gonna go out for Valentine's Day. We figured why not create an event that people can go to with their spouses, boyfriends or girlfriends and do good at the same time."

There are 30-40 items for a silent auction, along with raffle tickets, a cash bar, snacks, dancing and a DJ. The event will take place in the Moore Community Room from 7pm to 10pm on the 13th. For more information on the Sweetheart Ball, contact Bob McCabe at 802-748-7895.
