BARNET- Residents gathered at the Barnet Public Library last night to discuss the technology of heat pumps with the cold weather fast approaching. Having heat pumps could be very beneficial to New Englanders in the winter. Although they were relatively unpopular in northern states because of their inability to function at temperatures below 32 degrees.
However, after technological advances, some heat pumps can work in temperatures down to -18 degrees. Ellen Gershun of Sun Common was there last night to give those who attended information on not only the technological advances, but also on how much energy it can save to use a heat pump. According to SunCommon.com heat pumps are not only energy efficient but they are affordable and are as easy as the touch of a button. Many Vermont companies, such as Green Mountain Power, are pushing for the use of heat pumps at this time with hopes to keep Vermont green.
