April Showers bring May Paving

pavingST. JOHNSBURY- Spring is finally here and so are the road projects that are creating headaches for some drivers and business owners. 

A paving project started today on U.S. Route 2, Eastern Ave, and Western Ave in St. Johnsbury.

This is part of the road improvement project that started in 2014. These improvements include reserfacing existing roadways as well as highway upgrades.

According to the VTrans website motorist should expect a one lane road, causing delays in traffic.

The town of St. Johnsbury has had major road construction for the past three years. Becasue of the construction, businesses in the area are losing customers.

John Gebbie, owener of the St. Johnsbury Hardware Store is ready for the construction to end. "It's been three years, it's hard on small businesses, but it's just a necessary evil. Hopefully [this part] will be done today."

The small paving project that is currently underway should be done by the middle fo the week.
