St. Johnsbury- Local lawmakers gathered to discuss the progress of Vermont, as well as issues within their respective committees. Senators and Representatives woke up for an early bird breakfast this morning at the St. Johnsbury House.
Representatives from all over came for a bite to eat this morning. Danville, Lyndon, Kirby, St. Johnsbury and other towns all had politicians in attendance. Lyndon Rep. Marty Feltus referenced back to Town Meeting Day and brought up budget appropriations. Feltus said that although the budget was "fair," she would've liked to see it have been cut down more.
Driving down I-91 a little bit further and you'll get to St. Johnsbury where first-time Rep. Scott Beck talked about the progression of the town.
"The reality is that the Vermont economy right now is able to support nowhere near what Vermonters expect from their state governments," Scott Beck, R-St. Johnsbury.
With budget and money talks being the main topic this morning, most notably the $1.4M general fund budget.
While some lawmakers thought the budget was fair but others are concerned because it is set to raise taxes by $35M.
