LYNDON - The Faculty and Staff Scholarship Committee hosted their annual yard sale in the Bole Gym of Lyndon State College last Saturday. This sale was one major source of funding for the Student Scholarship Fund.
All the money raised would go to the scholarship to support LSC students, and clothes ended up not being sold out would go to the Salvation Army or the HOPE or other public service organizations. Books that were not sold out would go to local animal shelters.
This yard sale has been happening more than 20 years. At one point, it was held in downtown Lyndonville, but got moved up to LSC campus so if it rains, the event wouldn’t be affected.
People’s enthusiasm was quite high about the yard sale. “A lot of people in town started talking about it in August,” Said Jay Bona, the committee member.
People can expect to find a variety of things from a number of different generations at the yard sale and help donate money to the scholarships. “You’ll find anything from toys to clothes to tools and glass ware, chairs and furniture. Last year, we raised around $1,100 and this year we are looking to contribute more money to scholarships,” added Bona.
The yard sale was from 8am to 1pm and there was also a 50/50 raffle shoppers can take part in to help the scholarship cause.
