The report states the young adult population have issues with the lack of convenient public transportation and limited space for biking and walking. Young adults say it is extremely important to bike and walk to destinations.

In Lyndon the National Association of City Transportation Planners have guidelines that call for bike lanes that are 4 to 5 feet along the roadways, instead of just a 3 foot shoulder. While in the Northeast Kingdom bus and taxi services are available to the community.

Officials think the concerns are playing a key role in Vermont's declining young adult population.

Statistics show the number of Vermonters between the ages of 20-39 decreased by 20% over a twenty year period between 1990 and 2010 according to U.S. Census data, while the total population of Vermont grew by 11%.

The Vermont Transportation Board believes if they don't provide the services young adults need they will over look Vermont when finding somewhere to settle, work, and raise of family.
