sutton schoolSUTTON - According to a school official, things are back to normal at the Sutton School after a quarter of the students did not attend school Monday after an alleged assault by the Principal.

Vermont State Police are now investigating an incident that happened on November 20, when Principal Roberta Stradling allegedly assaulted another staff member. Stradling was placed on administrative leave for the rest of the day, but allowed to return back to school the following day.
In protest of the decision to let the principal return, parents of 27 students did not allow for their children to return the Monday after the extended holiday weekend.
Caledonia North Supervisory Union Superintendent Victoria Scheufler has permitted Stradling to continue working while the investigation is happening.
Superintendent Scheufler did notify Stradling the day following her leave that along with being allowed to return to her regular duties, she would be completing a school level investigation of her own following the police investigation.
The Sutton School board is giving parents an opportunity to speak about the incident with the board itself tonight at 5pm.
