college pricesNATIONWIDE - Throughout the United States college students are seeing an increase in the cost of attending college.

According to the College Board's 2014-2015 pricing report, the cost of a higher education has increased again. This school year the average price for a four year public school increased 2.9 percent. Meanwhile the price for a two year public school has risen 3.3 percent. The tuition costs at private schools has increased the most, at 3.7 percent. These prices only include tuition along with room and board.

Tuition costs are not the only prices that have been on the rise. Books and other materials needed for school usually cost around $2,000 per student.

Sandy Baum, the co-author of the College Board's report, the rise in prices could be related to the state of the economy which has an influence on the amount of money public colleges will receive. As well as how many donations private schools with get.

However, the spike in prices isn't as big as it seems to students and their parents. Baum explained, according to CBS reports, that colleges and universities are increasing their tuition at a quicker pace than the rate of inflation.

Currently, students of higher education are now paying triple what students paid 30 years ago to attend a public college.
