barnetselectboardBARNET - Many residents of Barnet are concerned about the noise and excessive speeding of all terrain vehicles on main public roads.

The involved citizens brought forth a petition stating that they don't want ATV's to be allowed to be speeding past their homes.

Many people from the area dont like the disruption and attention ATV's bring to their town, even more so now that some offer ATV tours through and around town. Many residents believe it's fine for the trials to cut through public roads, but can't be fully on them. The point was brought up that snowmobilers has off trails, but the selectboard was hesitant to offer those trails because they believe it will increase illeagle ATV use. All of the members of the ATV club are leagle and their vehicals are registered and insured.

The select board of Barnet told citizens if they where upset about this issue, a petition would give them a chance to get noticed and make a change. The petition included 215 verified signatures. In the last few years however, the ATV club has been working to get their own private trails for exclusively all terrain vehicle travel, and thereby using less public roads for travel.  The Barnet select board will have another meeting within the month where the population of concerned Barnet citizens can voice their opinions again.
