Wind Tower Noise

The Sheffield wind project is set to move ahead, after a final approval by The Vermont Public Service Board. The sixteen wind towers that are set to be erect will generate forty mega-watts of power. This project will help Vermont take a stride to transition to alternative energy. Residents who live directly near the proposed site have some concerns. Not only about the sight of the wind towers, but also about the noise they create. The Rumford Community Hospital in Maine released a statement in February drawing attention to possible health concerns of people living near wind turbines. These health hazards include problems arising from audible noise frequencies coming from the towers. There are even some health hazards that come from inaudible low frequencies for people living within two to six miles of the turbines.
