Water Main Troubles in St. Johnsbury

Monday, April 27th, 2009

A water main break in St. Johnsbury was the cause of many head aches for locals Thursday morning. While the St. Johnsbury community was left without water, the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital had to virtually shut down for most of the day. Without water the hospital was unable to use plumbing, serve food, and even scrub up for surgery, causing all surgeries in the hospital to be canceled. In order to distribute water, officials had to truck it to the nearby cancer recovery center which still had operational plumbing. However, as of Friday afternoon the main was fixed and water was fully restored to NVRH and the St. Johnsbury community.
