ST. JOHNSBURY - Improved safety for school children is a priority for the St. Johnsbury School. The school received around $90,000 in funding for the "Safer School Project" which will improve safety for children who both walk or are driven to school. The school board hopes to begin the project this summer, installing two radar detectors between the Irving gas station and the Fairbanks Inn. The hope is to slow traffic down and prevent congestion. Also planned is the expansion of the sidewalks in the area for kids who walk to school with the hope of getting students farther away from the traffic.
