Rebuilding Sheffield Church
Sheffield - Eight Months ago Sheffield lost its one hundred and forty eight year old Federated Church when it was struck by lightning. On March 8th they took the first step to rebuilding by accepting a land donation where a new Sanctuary can be built. The new site of Sheffield Federated Church will be a site next to Dexter Cemetery. This land was donated by a family who wished to remain anonymous, but requested that the new site be dedicated to a deceased family friend.
There was some controversy when the members of the congregation voted on the acceptance of the land, including why wasn't the rebuild taking place closer to the original location and concerns of the proximity to popular snowmobile trails.
Pastor Tim Pittman is looking forward to the rebuild, and was delighted with the support of the local community, both parishioners and the surrounding community. He also Hopes the project will make the church more "Community Minded" Until then Sunday church meetings are taking place at the Town Hall.
