The Lyndonville Kennametal plant remains barren due to a company wide, week long shut down. With a global decline in industrial production, and a reduced customer demand, both hourly and salaried employees were out of work with no pay this past week. This in the wake of several rounds of layoffs the company has already put forward.

Kennametal Corporation issued the following statement.
“We know these measures will be a hardship for our employees and their families, however, they will help fortify our company during this global economic crisis…we are taking the appropriate actions necessary in response so that we can ensure we emerge from this economic crisis an even stronger company.”

Employees will return to work next week.
