Kayaking Season is Right Around the Bend

While skiers are putting their skis away for the season, people who kayak are gearing up for their upcoming season.
The type of kayak one should buy is determined by what type of kayaking is planned. Experience is another big item to think about when choosing a kayak. Any sport store that sells kayaks should be able to help find the best type for the buyer
When picking the necessary gear there are three different structural types of kayaks to choose from.
There are the rigid or hard-shell boats. These are made up of plastic, fiberglass, Kevlar, carbon fiber or wood. This type of kayak is usually the most durable and the heaviest, which is something to keep in mind since you will be carrying your kayak to and from the water.
The second type of kayak is the folding variety. These boats are made of fabric, which is then stretched over either a metal or aluminum frame. The advantage to this kayak is that it is generally the easiest to carry and store. While these boats are usually extremely durable, they lack the same speed and performance of a hard-shell.
The third kind of kayak is the inflatable type. These boats are the best for storing and portability. As with any inflatable device however comes the risk of losing air or popping the boat.
Northeast Kingdom kayakers have the Passumpsic River to kayak on in addition to many places throughout Vermont.
