Collin's Road To Recovery
On November 22nd the Kingdom Animal Shelter hotline received a phone call from residents in Passumpsic that there was something wrong with a stray cat they had been feeding.
Sandy Butkovich explains what she saw.
"Well that was the scary part cause when I got him into the carrier and into my car actually when I grabbed him, he was wet and I realized later that was pus that was oozing out of his injuries and the collar embedded around his neck and at some point he had tried to put his arm through the collar and the arm got stuck. So the worst of his injuries are right underneath his arm pit, it was extremely embedded there."
With no time to waste Sandy called Western Avenue Vet Clinic where they cut the embedded collar and freed Collin. Collin the cat received stitches under his arm and on his neck, however the positioning of the wounds makes it hard for the stitches to stay in place. For his treatment right now Collin receives an antibiotic wash twice a day. If his wounds do not close up he might be looking at multiple skin graphs.
Sandy Butkovich says that "This is a really good example of why people should not put collars on cats that are going to be outside."
The Kingdom Animal Shelter will host Collin until he is completely healed and then they are looking to place him and find him a good home.
