St. Johnsbury Selectmen Rod Lamotte, Jim Rust and Bernie Timson were verbally battered at Wednesday night's selectboard meeting.

The meeting was held so voters and selectboard members could schedule a date for revote of the failed general fund, which never happened.

The large crowd of people, ranging from bankers to commercial property owners to failed selectman candidates and school directors, were all livid about the failed general fund, and about the elimination of Joel Schwartz from his previous position of Economic Development Director, without input from voters. The crowd would occasionally scream chants of "tyranny" and "dictatorship", and at some points, rivaled college protests.

Selectman Daniel Kimbell, who supports itemizing the budget, says the meeting felt more like verbal assault when the crowd laughed at Lamotte due to the fact that he asked for a question to be repeated."For someone to laugh at a hearing impairment, especially when we have a bank president and the leaders of the school are joining in, is I think the lowest I've ever seen in St. Johnsbury. It was humiliating to hear them, who call themselves leaders of this town." Kimbell went on to say, "After taking the testimony the board took from some very passionate people, they decided to take some more time to look over the issue."
