The Saint Johnsbury School has new plans for its future budget.

The Saint Johnsbury School budget has undergone a reduction of about $26,000 in the last year. Dr. Nicole Saginor, the Saint Johnsbury School Superintendent said, "It's been a very tough year and I know it's tough for everybody um... we've tried to keep our budget down."

During these rough economic times the school is still trying to provide the best education for their students. Lisa River, the School Board Chairman said, "Well the budget plan for this year is really holding steady to what we've been doing. There has been a big initiative in um... the last few years in student achievement... We've done all that we could ah we feel to build a responsible budget at a cost that's not going to put this on the backs of the Saint Johnsbury students."))

The school is also looking into alternative ways for their cafeteria program to save money. Carol Brill, a Lunch Lady says, "I am very concern because most of us have been here a lot of years we've been here anywhere from 32 years down to 15 years and there are 6 of us who really don't want to lose our jobs."

The presentation also included a free meal and a performance by the schools jazz band. The town will vote in the new budget at the Saint Johnsbury town meeting March 2nd."

If you would like to find out more about the new budget plan there will be a hearing to answer questions on March 1st in the school auditorium.
