St Johnsbury School Cuts2
Cuts! Cuts! Cuts! That is what's been going on at the St. Johnsbury School the last few days.

The school board has been under fire for not being able to come up with a plan to fix the deficit that was accumulated over the last few years.

The board did, however, approve a revised budget of nearly $198,000, but the cuts didn't come in the form of many programs, it came in the form of jobs. "The big reductions came in staff", says Superintendent Nicole Saginor, "So we have a total of 3 classroom teachers that have been reduced and also 5 Para educators who have been reduced."

If the proposed budget isn't passed, the board will have to go back to the drawing board to discuss further cuts. Even though the school will receive $600,000 in government grants, the school will not be able to replace teachers who have been terminated.
