Saginor Retires After 5 Years

ST. JOHNSBURY - St. Johnsbury School Superintendent Dr. Nicole Saginor has made her retirement plans official.

After serving as the school superintendent for five years she is ready to retire. But not until she made a change in the school district. Things like changing from the normal textbooks to a more technological approach in the classroom.

At the end of this school year Saginor will retire. Her plans for the future are to return to her previous job as a consultant with schools and the state.

While working in the St. Johnsbury School district she has accomplished many things such as playing a big leadership role in the tier 1 process. Saginor said, "The obvious big changes have been in the organizational structure of the school district. There were special education issues that were out of compliance, there were obviously financial issues that hadn't been addressed, and there were instructional issues that were ongoing."

With many thing happening at the schools while Saginor was superintendent some parents are not happy with how the schools are running.

Donald Young from St. Johnsbury said, "My child personally, who is in the 6th grade, has about a 4th grade reading level and I'm not impressed with that. We've been in and talked to the school many, many times."

As for the future of the superintendent position Saginor says that she is unsure what the school board will decide to do. They could hire another full time superintendent, contract out, or join another district.
