Scott Rainville-New Danville Boys Basketball Head Coach

DANVILLE- For the past couple of years Danville Vermont has been a household name associated with winning.
After decades of winning and many playoff appearances Danville's Boys Head basketball coach stepped down to spend more time with his family. In his time as Head Coach Jim Nelson had an impressive winning record going 135-88. He also made it to the final four five times and made two championship games.
Now there is a new era in Danville Basketball.
Scott Rainville has now taken the reigns as head coach after being in the Danville basketball program for many years, "I was in the grade school level for quite a few years, then went up to the junior high level, then a few years back got into the JV level and helped out with the varsity level. So its all been Danville basketball."
He takes over a team that just last year, made it to the championship game in Barre with a 23-3 record. The team was loaded with talent including Solomon Little, who was projected to be a second team All-State honoree. But now he thinks it's a different story this year, in his first season as head honcho, "We lost a lot of quality seniors last year, along with good role players. So the challenge was just getting our new guys to mesh with each other early in the season."
This challenge seems to be overcome by Coach Rainville's squad with a now 13-4 record. He thinks the reason for the Indians impressive record is because of how smart his players are, "The basketball I.Q of all the members of the team, is through the roof. So with that being said, my job is just to keep them on the same page, and to stay out of their way."
He goes on to say that the flu bug has been hitting his team the entire season and he potentially could not have done this with his team if it wasn't for learning so much from his predecessor Jim Nelson, " The best thing was, helping out Jim Nelson after ten years, I was able to spend three years with Jim, and learned a tremendous amount of basketball and how to interact with the kids."
Coach Rainville looks to continue Danville's winning ways into the State Tournament this year.
