The Fenton Chester arena played host to the first annual hockey in the kingdom jamboree. The cold air inside the rink and the excitement of competition combined to wake up young hockey players.
The Lyndon area youth hockey association red wings were the host team for this three-on-three round-robin tournament.
Seven teams took part in this playing three twenty-minute games with running time.
Every ninety seconds...the buzzer would sound...signaling for the teams to change on the fly. These rules give each player plenty of shifts and chances to touch the puck.
Dick Emery LAYHA President said, "You can see some kids that just started skating this year score their first goal ever. Have fun, learn sportsmanship, just really nice to see young kids developing into little hockey players."
The players ranged in age from six to nine years old. Between the seven teams...a total of fifty-eight players took part. No scores were kept during the games...and penalties were not called… Sunday was all about fun on the ice.
