Tennis season has officially swung into action.  The St. Johnsbury Academy boy's tennis team had and hosted their first match against Spaulding High school Monday April 12, 2010.

Now that spring has sprung, spring sports have the chance to get back outside and begin to get ready for another season.  And with that here comes the spring track and field athletes of the, St. Johnsbury Academy Hilltoppers.

With the snow melting and signs of spring popping up, the local golf courses are beginning to open their doors for business.  The St. Johnsbury Country Club opened Saturday March 20, 2010, and without hesitation, golfers showed up to tee off rain or shine.

This weekend Burke Mountain will be hosting the biggest ski event that Vermont has seen in nearly 30 years.

Now never mind a less then stellar ski season, this weekend Burke Ski Mountain will be hosting the 2010 Noram Finals. Joe Kasprzak of Burke Mountain said, "We are really proud and excited for the biggest event in almost 30 years."

The St. Johnsbury girls basketball team made history at the Patrick Gymnasium. St. Johnsbury Academy played three seed Rutland in the division one championship last night, and the team played for their school's first division one title.

Young Swimmers In The Northeast Kingdom is working to build up their swim club. Four years ago the closest competitive swimming would be found in Derby. One local, Andrew Barter noticed, and as a result he decided to start a swim club.

The football rivalry between St. Johnsbury Academy and Lyndon Institute dates back to 1894 and is one of the oldest sport rivalries in New England.

It’s a tradition that continued this past Saturday at the Robert K. Lewis Field in Lyndonville, where the Lyndon Institute Vikings were able to come out on top against the St. Johnsbury Hilltoppers.

Lyndon State Freshmen Joshua Grant has been name the North Atlantic Conference Runner of the Week for the second consecutive week. This comes after he took fifth out of 39 runners last Friday during the St. Michael's College Invitational meet.

The Lyndon Institute field hockey team took to the field against the Rice Green Knights on Tuesday, for their third straight shutout loss. In rainy weather, Kristin Skeffington put a goal in the net for the Green Knights just 10 minutes into the game.

The St. Johnsbury Academy Hilltoppers baseball team held their first game on Tuesday, hosting the North Country Union Falcons. The Hilltoppers scored three runs in the second inning giving them an early 4-1 lead.

Skate boarders are enjoying the new skate park in St Johnsbury but helmet safety is important and after one violation skating will no longer be permitted. Helmets are available right in front of the skate park at Kingdom Outdoors for anyone to rent.  Kids in the community are welcome to skate with their boards and helmets from 9am until 9pm.

Saturday at Burke Mountain hundreds of people made their way to the slopes to watch sixty plus skiers and snowboarders brave their way across a seventy-foot pond. This was the twentieth annual Burke Mountain Pond Skimming, and the sunny weather made it a perfect day for this event two decades in the running.
