With the future of energy uncertain, people all over the world have been turning to alternative sources of power. It is becoming more and more common to see houses with solar panels on them. In fact the demand for solar panels is so high that factories are having a hard time keeping up. College professor and author, Alan Boye, decided a few years ago he would build himself a house. To the naked eye it looks like your everyday house. In fact it's a super energy efficient house built out of straw. The house is not hooked up to any power lines. Its main power source is the sun. Boye built his house out of hay after being inspired by similar houses built the same way in his home state of Nebraska. Other inspirations in the design of the house, come from the authors he teaches about in his English classes like Henry David Thoreau.
