ST. JOHNSBURY - (Updated 4:00PM)  Police have have arrested Allen Prue, 30, and Patricia Prue, 33, both of Waterford, VT in connection with the murder of Melissa Jenkins.  They are being charged with second degree murder and improper disposal of a body. Both were arraigned this morning in Caledonia Criminal Court and plead not guilty to charges. They are being held without bail.

The Vermont Chief Medical Examiner, Dr. Steven Shapiro, has completed the autopsy of the body found on Comerford Dam Road in Barnet yesterday and identified it as 33 year old Melissa Jenkins. The manner of death has been ruled a homicide but details are being withheld to protect the investigation.

LYNDONVILLE- Just after four this afternoon a fire was reported to the Lyndonville Fire Department on Cotton rd. Upon their arrival additional units were called to the scene including trucks from Saint Johnsbury, Concord, and East Burke.

SAINT JOHNSBURY- At 10:30am Thursday morning, State Police reported that two inmates of the Northeast Correctional Facilty escaped while working outside on chopping wood for a wood pile.  The two were identified as Glenn Garvey, 23 of Brandon, and Nathan Jones, 25 of Washington.

MONTPELIER- Students from the four Vermont State Colleges (VSC) gathered in Montpelier today for a rally over higher educational spending on the front steps of the State House.

This year will mark the second year that students have rallied at the state capital for change.  The rally took place from 11am until 1pm and was expected to have up to 300 students attending.

St. Johnsbury- The bodies found in a home at 121 Caledonia Street St. Johnsbury yesterday afternoon have now been Identified as 50 year-old Penny Birch, and her husband 55 year-old David Birch and Police have concluded that the deaths were the result of a Murder-Suicide.  

Littleton Opens New Bridge on Veterans Day

Last Friday was Veterans Day and in Littleton they celebrated the day with the opening of a new bridge on Redington Street.

But it was no ordinary bridge opening; this one was special. The bridge was dedicated in the honor of Louis "Bob" Corey. Corey, a Littleton resident, went missing in action during World War II and died in a German field hospital.
