Instead, fires have been seen more often and last night, a home in East Burke no longer houses the family that once lived inside.

On March 28th, 45 year old Daniel Horner was pronounced dead after running his car off the road into some trees.

Horner was traveling on Route 114 Saturday night before the crash occured.

Police have declined comment until investigations are complete but have released that he was not wearing a seat belt.

Saturday at Burke Mountain hundreds of people made their way to the slopes to watch sixty plus skiers and snowboarders brave their way across a seventy-foot pond. This was the twentieth annual Burke Mountain Pond Skimming, and the sunny weather made it a perfect day for this event two decades in the running.

Burke Mountain - As the skiing season comes to a close, Burke Mountain begins to see a variety of different events on its slopes.  First off this year was The Rail Jam, a contest for park riders and skiers who love to "shred" over metal rails and boxes.

The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and the Church of Latter Day Saints in Lyndonville were struck by bullets late at night on January 23. Three days later the rear window of a parked St. Johnsbury police cruiser and windows at the St. Johnsbury Fire Station were shot at with a shotgun. Police have linked one shooter to both crimes.
