Distracting Sign In Lyndonville?

Kinney Drugs Sign

If you drive through Lyndonville often enough, you probably have noticed the new location of Kinney Drugs, closer to the center of town, across from Rite Aid and the Redemption Center.
If you drive through Lyndonville at night, you can't help but notice the new L-E-D sign outside of Kinney's new location. This sign was the topic of scrutiny around Christmas time, as many drivers complained to the Lyndonville Zoning Commission that the sign was too bright and flashy, and irritated the eyes of drivers who passed through.

News 7 spoke with Justin Smith, the Lyndon Zoning Administrator, who said, "When the sign first went in, they had speed scrolling and they had a background with Santa Clause and flames and a chimney and different things that flashed and blinked and scrolled really quickly across the screen."

After several complaints from residents, the Zoning Administration met with Kinney Drugs, and quickly came to an agreement that the sign will no longer flash or blink like it used too. Instead, it will only display the date, time, temperature, and certain products that are on sale. But some residents say they haven't even noticed the changes to the sign.

"To be honest I didn't even notice a change in the sign...I didn't know it was bright. I guess if it's dimmer now it's better for the drivers but I never even noticed it" says Lyndonville resident Braedon Bellavance.

The only thing left for the Zoning Commission to complete is to rate the brightness of the sign.
