Handicap Spots are Reserved

LYNDONVILLE- A new state law is increasing the charge of parking in a handicap space without the proper clearance. The old fine used to be just 200 dollars for violators but that has now been increased to 270 dollars.
"Although were going to keep issuing the lesser fines, people should be aware that handicap spaces are for handicapped people and we do have the right to issue the higher fines and tow the cars," said Lyndonville Police Chief Jack Harris.
Harris says that the Lyndonville Police will still be issuing tickets to offenders. However in other towns in the state, like Rutland for instance, the fine will now be immediately charged.
Regardless of who is driving the car the tickets will be issued to the cars registered owner, who will also be responsible for any towing and storing of the vehicle.
