VERMONT - Governor Phil Scott's Friday press conference hightlighted just how Vermont will begin to re-open the state in the coming week, and childcare was a big topic on the agenda as re-opening begins.

"Two weeks ago we began to take the steps to re-open Vermont, and all childcare programs will have the chance to re-open on June 1st, but we are not requiring them to open. The ones that do choose to open must also follow healthcare guidelines, and gather in crowds of ten or less," said Governor Phil Scott.

"I know we don't have all the answers, but I know if we work together we can start to re-open chilcare and preschool for our kids," continued Scott.

While daycare and preschool is an important item on the agenda for re-opening-so are day and overnight camps. The opening of overnight camps are still being processed though.

"Summer day camps are also set to re-open this summer if they follow the healthcare guidlines, and our hope is that as summer progesses some overnight camps will be able to open too," said Secretary Smith.

"We will be putting out further information next week on the steps of how we will re-open overnight camps," continued Smith.

Certain precautions, and protocols will be taking place under daycare being re-opened as well.

"Testing will be open and available for providers, as we begin to re-open childcare," said Smith.

"Childcare workers will will also have the priority for testing as we re-open," comtinued Smith.

"We are also looking at how we can quarantine our out of state campers, and the guidlines for overnight campers will be coming out next week," said Secretary Brady.

Small Businesses are another important part of re-opening Vermont, and it is another thing that is being worked out.

"You'll see in the next week or so that we will be putting together a 'package' for our small buisinesses in Vermont, we want to continue to protect Vermont buisnesses the best that we can," said Scott.

"We are woking with the data and guidelines too, and are being congnizant of that-we are are working on not re-opening too quickly," continued Scott.

The re-open date for Vermont is still May 15th, but changes are sure to be adjusted due to reality in the coming week as well.
