
ST. JOHNSBURY - Several local heroes were honored at last night's "Unsung Heroes Celebration Dinner," which took place at St. Johnsbury Academy's Streeter Hall Cafeteria on Thursday night. The dinner was designed to showcase community members who volunteer work in the community can sometimes go unnoticed, and the honorees featured faces familiar to those active in the Northeast Kingdom community.

SAINT JOHNSBURY - Crews were busy Saturday afternoon in Saint Johnsbury as high winds blew embers from a small fire onto a hill off Route 2 catching it on fire. The Saint Johnsbury fire department were called to an area of land off Route 2 in East Saint Johnsbury after a homeowner started a fire in a firepit and with the help of strong winds, blew embers onto the grass starting another fire "the wind was just right" says fire chief Troy Ruggles "the grass was dry enough so it was perfect conditions for a brush fire."
ST JOHNSBURY - As the countdown to Easter began for children in St Johnsbury, the day before dozens lined up to get there shot at the golden egg. Dozens of parents and kids came out to the lawn of the North Congrational Church in Saint Johnsbury Saturday to find candy in an Easter egg hunt put on by KIX 105.5.

Chimney fires are formed when creosote, a very flammable substance, builds up in the flue. St Johnsbury fire crews responded today to a fire at 1240 Breezy Hill Road when the home owner reported a loud crackling sound, similar to a freight train, echoing through his home.
SAINT JOHNSBURY- A permanent town manager was appointed in September of 2010, Ralph Nelson, but almost two years later,Nelson was fired by selectboard members Jim Rust and Bernard Timson. Since Nelson was let go, the role of town manager has been divided between four people.
