ST. JOHNSBURY - Juan Rodriguez appeared in the St. Johnsbury Caledonia Courthouse today for allegedly shooting Rafael Rodriguez on July 15th. 

Authorities say the Juan Rodriguez was accused of shooting Rafael Rodriguez over a three hundred dollar debt. Authorities also confirmed the two have no relation.

Today in court, the suspect asked for a right to a speedy trial, but the state asked to postpone the trial until further investigations have been done due to a second suspect, Michael Roya.

"I wouldn't say the state is ready to go forwad, until we've investigated this Mr. Roya more thoroughly", said  State Attorney Maria Byford.

Both parties have two days to gather their statements while the St. Johnsbury police investigate the situation futher.
