St. Johnsbury - Despite the recent flooding throughout the Northeast Kingdom, people in St. Johnsbury recently had their water shut off.The town is currently in their second year of the ACSO Elimination Project, which deals withe the sewage overflow.
The project involves replacing the sewer lines in the town, which requires cutting off the residents from running water. The plan for this year's portion of the project is to replace the older pipes, that have been around for decades. Elizabeth Emmons, an engineer for Dusfrene Group Dufresne said that many of the sewer lines and pipes have been around for "longer than their intended shelf life."
Once this project is done, the town can be expecting to get cleaner water than what they've previously been receiving. The project started this week and is expected to continue throughout the summer.
