WETI Construction Almost Complete

WeidmannST. JOHNSBURY - WEIDMANN Electrical Technology (WETI) in St. Johnsbury is finishing up its 40 million dollar project that has been in the works since May of last year.

WETI produces electrical insulation material for transformers.

The product that is produced in the St.Johnsbury plant is present in roughly 75% of all power transformers in the United States.

The project has consisted of expanding their facilities, as John Goodrich, Vice President of operations in the Americas explains, "As with many things, the foundation has to be right, so we had to prepare a building that had to be set on bedrock so it doesnt move. It is supporting so much weight, that weight is criticly important to be supported in the way that it does not move thereafter.". Goodrich also explained project has also focused on upgrading a lot of their equipment, "We needed to modernize our technology, without this modernization we wouldn't have a business here in five years."

The overall expansion and upgrade project will not only help this major company in the next 5 years, but it will help to put them ahead of their competitors in years to come. Start-up and commissioning is expected to begin later this month.
