Director Leaves Athenaeum

director leavesST. JOHNSBURY - The athenaeum will be looking for a new director.

Matthew Powers has decided to leave the Athenaeum to take the same position at the Woodstock Historical Society.

Powers has worked at the athanaeum since October of 2010, and has been credited for coordinating many successful initiatives such as the Skylight Project in conjunction with the St. Johnsbury Academy Capstone projects.

Powers said "Hopefully there's enough programs and events coming down the pipeline, some very exciting things I feel.  That they can celebrate those things and feel that they're connecting to the community and bringing them back into the fold." Powers said despite leaving he will always have deep appreciation for the athenaeu.

It is not know when the athenaeum will find a new director but it is something that will be discussed in future board meeting.
