bestnursinghomeST. JOHNSBURY - The St. Johnsbury Health & Rehab Center was recently named one of the nation's best nursing homes by U.S. News & World Report, earning themselves a perfect five star rating.

The report, which is released annually, uses data provided by the Federal Centers for Medicare and Medicade Services to calculate an overall rating for nursing homes across the country. They also include ratings in three underlying categories.  St Johnsbury's Heath & Rehab Center was awarded 3 stars for health inspection, 4 stars for their nurse staffing, and another perfect 5 star rating for the quality of their care.

Reba Hearne, a 9 year resident at the center, wasn't surprised to hear the facility's nurses earned such a positive rating saying, "They spoil me, they all spoil me, the nurses and nurses aids."

Shawn Hallisey, the center's administrator, was proud of his team for their accomplishment saying, "It is truly and honor I congradulate my staff for it, I congradulate my residents and families for it, and I congradulate Healthcare Services group which is our housekeeping and our kitchen, and Premere which is our rehab group. And I'm thankful to each and every person that helps me and helps the residents because I couldnt do it alone or do it without them."
Crafting a report that names the nation's best nursing homes is not only to honor the hard working people who take the time to insure they provide quality care, it's main goal is to give family members and healthcare providers insight that can guide them in making the right choice in nursing homes for patients and loved ones.

The report listed the top rated homes homes in all 50 states with 21% of Vermont nursing homes earning 5 stars.
