ST. JOHNSBURY - It’s been 11 months in the making, but St. Johnsbury finally has a new full-time town manager.
Members of the St. Johnsbury selectboard named Mark Shea to the position on Monday evening.
Some St. Johnsbury residents are upset that it took the town this long to fill the position full-time. “We've been without a town manager for about 11 months," said Raymond LaBounty Jr., "They have been in no hurry to put an interim town manager in place, or yet even hire a town manager."
Shea is from Wichendon, Massachusetts, where he held a position in corrections for nearly 20 years. After his job in corrections, he received a Master’s Degree at Clarkson University in Public Administration.
Shea will have his contract reviewed by the selectboard next Monday, where he is set to make $65,000 along with benefits.
