Drug Screening Coming to the NEK?

ST. JOHNSBURY- A Burlington company that offers drug screening services plans to open a new collection site in downtown St. Johnsbury.

Burlington Laboratories is a clinical drug testing lab. They have several urine collection sites already in place throughout the state, but now they plan to open one in Depot Square, at 10 Eastern Avenue.

Burlington Laboratories is currently in the process of hiring a medical officer assistant and collector for the St. Johnsbury location.

"We see collections as a critical part of our mission to support the treatment community," Burlington Labs says on their website.

St. Johnsbury's Zoning Administrator, Maureen Hennings, says she has not yet gotten a formal plan yet from the company, and she added that this kind of plan would require speaking with the Development Review Board.

Many St. Johnsbury business owners believe that a collection site would not serve the downtown area well, and Town Manager John Hall agrees that a different location might be a better fit.
