Vikings End Three Year Losing Streak

soccer winLYNDON- The Lyndon Institute Vikings beat the Randolph Galloping Ghosts on Wednesday 3-2, for their first win on the season. Not only was it their first win of the season, but their first win in three seasons.

After a back and forth contest in the first half, the LI boys were holding strong, leading Randolph 2-1 at halftime.

Randolph started the second half strong and controlled the majority of play. The Ghosts were completing passes, and playing aggressive which led to midfielder, Colin Poulin, to score the games tying goal with eleven minutes remaining.

The situation is not unheard of for the Vikings, as they have lost at least three games this season in the last five minutes, and lost half of their games by two goals or less.

But this game would be different.

A foul on Randolph led to a direct kick to be taken by attacker, Fernando Tejaro, which left the Ghosts standing and watching. Tejaro quickly set the ball before the defense or goalie was ready and sniped a beautiful shot into the top left corner of the goal.

Although the Ghost's fought hard after the goal, the Vikings defense stepped up and secured their first win of the season.

Athletetic Director, Paul Wheeler, and fans cheered for the Vikings as the completed their run across the field as they do every game, and Wheeler even organized a small celebration after the game for the boys after the big win.

The LI Vikings travel to People's Academy on Saturday, October 4th, in hopes of getting their second win.
