Lyndon - With the recent unanimous decision by the House Government Operations Committee to support a town-village merger, the selectboard will look different.
With an 11-0 vote to support the Lyndon - Lyndonville merge that will create one entity, the Lyndon selectboard will be expanding from three member to five. Once the village is dissolved and becomes part of the town then three of the trustees will keep the oversight role. Selectboard member Christian Thompson says "This will give us a greater deversity of opinions and viewpoints on the board, specifically viewpoints from the village percpective which is a great thing since we will be coming one entity, one town." Legislature will be voting on the merge before they adjourn, which is mid to late May, if they approve the merger in the legislature then on July 1st the new selectboard will be formed. In turn that selectboard of five members will serve together until Town Meeting Day of 2024.
