EAST BURKE - A 27-year-old St. Johnsbury woman was found dead by ski patrol on QBurke Mountain early Friday evening.
Seleste Fenoff was skiing the mountain with a partner on the trails Friday when Fenoff decided to exit the groomed portion of the trails. State police estimate that Fenoff died at approximately 3:15 after striking a tree.
Ski Patrol began searching for Fenoff when her skiing partner notified them that she had not returned from her run and was missing. According to a statement from QBurke, ski patrol would find her at approximately 5:24 that night after a four hour search. Fenoff was found wearing a helmet.
After being discovered, Vermont state police and a detective were sent to the scene. At this time all signs point to the death being accidental, though there is still an investigation underway. An autopsy is planned to be conducted in Burlington in the coming days.
