Police Week

Police WeekST. JOHNSBURY- May is National Police Memorial month, it is a month dedicated to Police Officers who made sacrifices in the line of duty.

During the month of May, troopers from the Vermont State Police, will be wearing a special commemorative patch on their uniforms. It is not uncommon for police departments to show gratitude in such of a way. There is a specific week, dubbed 'Police Week' which happens in Washington, D.C.  Police Officers from across the country, flock to the nations capital, to partake in various events.

Although in Saint Johnsbury, nothing special is being done at the Police Department, Police Chief Tim Page says that it is something that they think about all of the time. "We focus on the people that we lost more than anything during that week. We look back and see those people that have made the ultimate sacrifice for our profession, and the people who have been injured on duty. So that's what it means to us, [looking] back and [saying] thank you to those folks."

National Police Week 2019 will officially kick off on Sunday May 12th
