SHEFFIELD - The Miller's Run School's budget faced some discrepancy from residents of Sheffield and Wheelock, ultimately being rejected, after votes were cast on Town Meeting Day.
Sheffield approved the $3.9 million school budget for Miller's Run, with 55 residents voting yes to the proposed budget, and 36 residents voting no. Wheelock, however, rejected the budget with votes comparing 66 residents approving it, and 45 residents denying it.
With ballots from both towns combined, the budget failed by a mere two votes. This means back to the drawing board for the Miller's Run School Board to create a revised budget, so the two towns can revote.
Also in Sheffield on Town Meeting Day, residents voiced their concerns about reparing Route 122, and voters approved the amount for the combined general and highway budget. The town's municipal building will also be seeing repairs, as the budget of $35,000 was approved.
As for the new town hall building in Wheelock, that article was amended, and another meeting will be scheduled within 45 days by the select board to discuss construction for it.
